About Extension in Cook County
University of Illinois Extension is the flagship outreach of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, offering educational programs to residents in each of Illinois's 102 counties. The mission of University of Illinois Extension is to help people improve their lives and communities through learning partnerships that put knowledge to work. Our staff brings research-based solutions to everyday issues and challenges in effective and practical formats.
We have recently expanded our outreach with new programs designed to preserve Cook County's status as a global county by developing unique learning partnerships with its residents. Extension's array of programs offers real and engaging education that helps individuals and families take control of their lives and communities. Our high-impact educational outreach focuses on five broad areas:

Throughout Cook County, University of Illinois Extension aims to provide innovative and culturally relevant educational programs that improve lives and communities. Today, Extension in Cook County serves more than 500,000 people each year.
